This comes as a favourable order since the position of the President at the SCDRC has been lying vacant for couple of months which had resulted in many consumers and lawyers being forced to either seek adjournments or expect no adjudication on the matter owing to lack of corum.
There is presently a big pile up of cases at the SCDRC Delhi and serious questions are being raised both in the legal Circles as well with the general public regarding the efficacy of these institutions in meeting the laudable objectives of justice to consumers in an easy and cost effect manner.
SCDRC under its President were expected to give the leadership that the consumer justice delivery system had long wanted. However this has been sorely lacking as time has lapsed. These posts have on the other hand have become political appointment given by ever eager politicians to their favorable appointees
Justice Dhingra has been in the forefront of justice delivery while discharging her responsibilities as a judge of the High Court of Delhi. How can one forget the now famous Rahul Gandhi case where she had refused to grant the interim injunctions.
The filing of the post of SCDRC by the government in a short duration of time after it had been left by Justice Beerbal also shows the seriousness of the government in ensuring that wheels of justice are not left unguided for long.
